Images have revealed a hole on the Moon’s surface that is at least 260 feet deep and may lead to an underground tunnel more than 1,200 feet wide which is part of an entire network of such winding tubes.

Scientists are hoping for clearer shots from NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, but the impression so far is that such a tunnel network could provide shelter for astronauts or potential future Moon colonists. I just plain wonder if they could combine it with the recent discovery of water for one kickass underground waterpark. [New Scientist via Pop Sci]

According to tech news site Neowin, an anonymous user posted usernames and passwords for over 10,000 Windows Live Hotmail accounts to web site PasteBin, including accounts on email domains like @hotmail.com, @msn.com, and @live.com. Neowin verified that the accounts are genuine, and that most appear to be based in Europe. Ars Technica reports, more specifically, those leaked accounts include usernames in alphabetical order beginning with the letters “ar” to “bl”. Microsoft has confirmed the leak, so if you’re a Live Hotmail user and you suspect you may have been affected, now’s the time to change that password. For the rest of us—well, this may serve as a reminder that it might be a good time to do a password refresh, anyway.

Good news for people with nVidia graphics cards – today, the manufacturer released its 191.07 graphics drivers for all desktop graphics cards. As with the last few releases, these drivers fully support both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7.

These drivers support the usual goodies for users of cards in the GeForce 8 series or above – namely, PhysX, CUDA, WDDM 1.1, and DirectCompute, a series of technologies geared toward making your graphics card do more than play the latest games.

So what? It’s just another driver release, right? Well, that in itself is remarkable, and it shows just how far ahead Windows 7 is of Windows Vista.

Windows 7’s launch is imminent (16 days an 5 hours, says our countdown clock!), but it hasn’t happened yet. Only certain business and MSDN customers have (legally) gotten their hands on finished Windows 7 code. And yet, already we’ve seen multiple Windows 7 driver releases from many manufacturers.

Dell has Windows 7 drivers available for most of their current desktop and laptop models. ATI has officially supported Windows 7 since the Catalyst 9.3 driver package was released about seven months ago, and nVidia has had Windows 7 drivers available for almost as long. Intel has released a couple of sets of beta drivers, even keeping its old, low-end GMA 950 chipset up-to-date with new drivers.

This is a far cry from Windows Vista’s driver support – some studies have said that nVidia drivers were responsible for nearly 30% of Windows Vista’s crashes the year that operating system was released. Think about that! Every four times a Windows Vista computer crashed, it was the fault of nVidia drivers. Of course, most consumers didn’t know that – for them, an operating system crash was the operating system’s fault, and Microsoft’s and Vista’s reputation suffered as a result.

The rock-solid driver support that Windows 7 is going to enjoy when it launches in two weeks is tremendous, both for users and for Microsoft. Users get a more reliable and feature-rich computer, and Microsoft’s operating system can be judged based on its own successes and failures, not the failures of another company. That’s good news for everyone.

Based on tweets earlier in the week, we already knew that Biz Stone, Twitter’s co-founder, would make an appearance on Martha Stewart. Stewart’s become an avid Twitterer herself [@MarthaStewart], so it’s no surprise that she invited Stone to join the show, though what they would talk about was still anybody’s guess.

The interview aired  and Silicon Alley Insider posted a clip from the show to YouTube. In the clip Stone describes his first experience with Twitter to Stewart, and says he knew “this is IT, because this is making me laugh…the world always needs humor.”

There are both positives and negatives to using antivirus programs. Many users will argue that it’s not worth the loss of performance to have constantly-running antivirus protection. However, anyone who has ever been struck by a computer infection knows the worth of a program that protects.  There are numerous options for users as to which program to use and it often comes down to preference. Microsoft has recently released a list of those who are fully compatible with the new OS and a few that are in working betas. Norton- Norton antivirus is one of the popular choices for pc protection. Now fully compatible with Windows 7, Norton will offer a host of different protections, including anti-spyware protection. Norton is very respected and proven, even those with an elementary knowledge of computers have heard of the brand. You may be overwhelmed by the amount of different options that can be available with the full version of Norton’s protection.

Cons: Cost, Is known for hogging system resources

AVG – Thought widely as one of the best free virus protection software suites, AVG has always been respected as being a comprehensive package in virus protection. AVG has a very easy-to-use interface and offers plenty of protection options for free that most other vendors would charge for. Usually when someone asks me to recommend an antivirus program, I’ll say AVG, because of the price tag (or lack thereof) and protection that it offers.

Pros: Free for home users, removes viruses automatically

Cons: Protection against spyware, Adware and Trojan horses could be better

Avast – Another free product that is compatible with Windows 7, Avast is often compared to AVG because of its protection options minus the cost. One main complaint from Avast users is the lack of a scan scheduler, which is an option in the premium edition, but you will have to pay for the upgrade.

Pros: Free for personal use,

Cons: Lacks scheduler unless the full version is purchased

Kapersky– Kapersky Anti-Virus is a well-known and equally respected suite that has a lot to offer the user. It is listed as being fully compatible with Windows 7. The interface is very simple and does an excellent job of cleaning your system of problems. The main drawback is its price.

Pros: Very good protection

Cons: Pricey, lacks firewall protection

Avira Antivir– Making a name for itself in the “free protection” circles, Avira Antivir is an efficient, quick solution and uses very little resources to run. If you are looking for an excellent antivirus program with many options for no cost, Antivir could be your solution.

Pros: Free protection, Very light on system resources

Cons: You will be asked to upgrade over and over
